RFI & EMI Shielding Materials

+  Click the titles below to expand the information

Radiated Electromagnetic Interference (EMI) and Radio Frequency Interference (RFI) are a critical problem in the design and manufacture of wirelessly transmitting electronic devices. Virtually all of the most versatile and satisfactory shielding solutions available to a designer are obtainable from Parafix, including shielding tapes, absorbers, foams, mesh, vent panels and board level shields.

Electrically Conductive Tapes

Electrically conductive tape offers high performance bonding and conductive properties in an easy to use, non-messy format. They provide an ideal shielding solution in electronic devices, especially where space and weight reduction is a primary design criterion. Electrically conductive tapes offer a reliable alternative to traditional fixing solutions and eliminate the need for secondary grounding solutions like screws and fasteners. Our conductive tapes also offer grounding and shielding qualities and are available in a variety of materials, in a range of thicknesses, as a double coated tape, single coated and transfer tape. Our wide range of electrically conductive tapes is available with Z axis or XYZ axis conductivity. Electrically conductive foam tapes are also available for additional shock absorbing, gap filling and cushioning properties. LINC offers an extensive range of electrically conductive products from world leading manufacturers. EMI & RFI Shielding Tapes

RFI/EMI shielding tapes offer an economical solution for containing signals emitted from your components. As well as preventing this interference they seal out random signals in the environment to protect sensitive equipment. Their conductive adhesive offers static charge drainage, to eliminate potentially dangerous static build-up. Particles in the conductive adhesive provide low contact resistance between the substrate and the backing. Aluminium and copper foil shielding tapes are easy to install and, utilizing our converting capabilities, can be die-cut to any shape to fit precisely into your products, making them ideal for thin or low profile applications. They offer a reliable and long-term shielding solution, maintaining the performance and quality of your products. Our wide range of shielding tapes are available in a variety of thicknesses and backing materials to meet galvanic compatibility requirements. These include fabric shielding tapes, aluminium, tin-plated copper foil tapes and copper shielding tape with non-conductive or conductive adhesives.

  • Shielding around individual electronic components and cables
  • I/O shielding panels
  • Shielding of keyboard devices
  • Used around the outside of coils, relays, and other components to prevent broadband EMI emissions
  • Shielding doors and panels of electronic cabinets and enclosures
  • Shielding of electro-medical devices
  • Ground planes or shields for electronic cables and connectors

Microwave Absorbers

Microwave absorbing materials are coatings whose electrical and/or magnetic properties have been altered to allow absorption of microwave energy at discrete or broadband frequencies. They are increasingly being used to enhance shielding performance at higher frequencies and are commonly used in applications such as point to point antenna systems, optical communication equipment, digital cameras, notebook PCs, servers and high speed switches. Microwave absorbers are most effective when used in conjunction with a reflective ground plane, but may also be effective when used in a plastic housing.
