Radiated Electromagnetic Interference (EMI) and Radio Frequency Interference (RFI) are a critical problem in the design and manufacture of wirelessly transmitting electronic devices. Virtually all of the most versatile and satisfactory shielding solutions available to a designer are obtainable from Parafix, including shielding tapes, absorbers, foams, mesh, vent panels and board level shields.
Electrically conductive tape offers high performance bonding and conductive properties in an easy to use, non-messy format. They provide an ideal shielding solution in electronic devices, especially where space and weight reduction is a primary design criterion. Electrically conductive tapes offer a reliable alternative to traditional fixing solutions and eliminate the need for secondary grounding solutions like screws and fasteners. Our conductive tapes also offer grounding and shielding qualities and are available in a variety of materials, in a range of thicknesses, as a double coated tape, single coated and transfer tape. Our wide range of electrically conductive tapes is available with Z axis or XYZ axis conductivity. Electrically conductive foam tapes are also available for additional shock absorbing, gap filling and cushioning properties. LINC offers an extensive range of electrically conductive products from world leading manufacturers. Click on the products tab for more information, or view our EMI & RFI shielding page for more information on the range of products available for electronic device applications.
RFI/EMI shielding tapes offer an economical solution for containing signals emitted from your components. As well as preventing this interference they seal out random signals in the environment to protect sensitive equipment. Their conductive adhesive offers static charge drainage, to eliminate potentially dangerous static build-up. Particles in the conductive adhesive provide low contact resistance between the substrate and the backing. Aluminium and copper foil shielding tapes are easy to install and, utilizing our converting capabilities, can be die-cut to any shape to fit precisely into your products, making them ideal for thin or low profile applications. They offer a reliable and long-term shielding solution, maintaining the performance and quality of your products. Our wide range of shielding tapes are available in a variety of thicknesses and backing materials to meet galvanic compatibility requirements. These include fabric shielding tapes, aluminium, tin-plated copper foil tapes and copper shielding tape with non-conductive or conductive adhesives.
Microwave absorbing materials are coatings whose electrical and/or magnetic properties have been altered to allow absorption of microwave energy at discrete or broadband frequencies. They are increasingly being used to enhance shielding performance at higher frequencies and are commonly used in applications such as point to point antenna systems, optical communication equipment, digital cameras, notebook PCs, servers and high speed switches. Microwave absorbers are most effective when used in conjunction with a reflective ground plane, but may also be effective when used in a plastic housing.
Conductive fabric materials consist of highly conductive metals combined with lightweight fabric. They have the flexibility, conformability and breathability of a fabric with the electrical properties of a metal, providing low surface and through reisistivity and excellent shielding effectiveness. Whether used as an architectural shielding product to shield complete rooms, or as a shielding material in EMI gaskets, tapes and shield laminates, conductive fabric materials provide a highly effective shielding system that is cost effective and easily applied.
Lightweight, thin strip metal fingerstock gaskets are used in a wide range of applications including enclosure shielding. We can offer designers flexibility and versatility with a wide range of fingerstock shielding products, including more than 3,400 standard parts available.
Our range of standard precision electronic spring contacts ground, carry current and signals, and interconnect boards and devices. They come in a variety of platings for maximum electrical current carrying performance.
Conductive fabric over foam products consist of Laird plated conductive fabrics and foams wrapped to create soft, reliable and repeatable EMI shielding gaskets and complex die cuts. Fabric over foam products are available in a wide range of shapes, sizes and profiles cut to length, with standard or conductive acrylic based adhesives. They have a shielding effectiveness of >100dB across a wide spectrum of frequencies.
Conductive elastomers are commonly used for the shielding of electronic enclosures against electromagnetic interference (EMI). The emi/rfi shielding system usually consists of a conductive gasket sandwiched between a metal housing and lid, the primary function being to provide sufficient electrical conductivity across the enclosure/gasket/lid junction. Electrically conductive elastomers are ideal for use in applications that require environment sealing as well as EMI shielding. They provide highly conductive and resilient gasketing material for use in all wirelessly transmitting devices, from standard commercial electronics, to ruggedized military devices. Our conductive elastomers are available with or without an adhesive backing and, with access to a wide range of adhesive materials; we can laminate material with an adhesive specified for your unique requirements.
Wire mesh EMI vent panels offer designers new versatility to meet airflow and EMI shielding for a range of applications, including telecommunications hardware equipment, fans, military applications, server racks and shielded rooms. Laird vent panel shields are available in framed and unframed designs, in a range of thicknesses and honeycomb cell sizes to suit your specific EMI, environmental and mechanical system requirements.
Laird technologies board level shields are designed to maximize the performance of your devices; providing isolation of board level components. Their standard design shields are available in one or two-piece designs, with a bridge frame and cover, removable by automation included in the two-piece range. One-piece board level shields offer economical board level shielding where access to covered components is not necessary. Two-piece board level shields offer users the flexibility to inspect or repair shielded components without the risk of board damage by removing the entire shield. Their covers snap on and off with ease, making access to parts under the shield quicker and easier, removing the potential for board re-work.
Knitted wire mesh gaskets are a very versatile and proven style of shielding. Wire mesh gaskets have a great variety of uses and there are several popular types to choose from depending on shielding or environmental requirements. They are cost effective for low cycling applications with high EMI/RFI shielding effectiveness over a broad frequency range. The knit construction provides long lasting resiliency with versatile mounting options.
