Label Innovation (an AWT Company) is a custom label manufacturer and converter of specialty components, tapes and labels. Based in Ottawa, the company uses flexographic print technology to produce conventional pressure sensitive based products and to convert raw materials, such as foam, rubber, plastics and other materials into unique specialty products to meet our customer’s specified requirements.

Off-Shift Production Team Lead

Label Innovation Inc has one opening for a permanent, full-time, salaried, Off-shift Production Team Lead.

The Off-shift Production Team Lead is responsible for assisting the Production Supervisor in coordinating activities of workers engaged in manufacturing processes, utilizing knowledge of equipment, procedures, and specifications.

Who You Are

  • High school graduate or equivalent.

  • Experienced in Manufacturing and/or the Printing / Flexographic / Converting industries (minimum 5 to 10 years)

  • Experienced in Production Leadership and/or progressive experience in multiple manufacturing roles.

  • Knowledgeable in production processes and quality control principles.

  • Skilled in Health and Safety regulations and best practices.

  • Proficient in using manufacturing software and tools, and generally comfortable with technology, including Microsoft Office productivity suite.

  • Highly organized and problem solver, with the ability to identify potential hazards/production obstacles and develop strategies to mitigate risks

  • Able to motivate a team to achieve production targets and drive continuous improvement.

  • Detailed oriented and committed to deliver high-quality products.

  • Effective communicator (verbal and written skills), with interpersonal skills to collaborate with team members and stakeholders at all levels.

  • Multitasker with good time management skills

  • Safety-first attitude

  • Highly ethical worker

  • Able to obtain Controlled Good Certification

Assets

  • University/college graduate in a related field.

  • Knowledgeable in Six Sigma techniques, Kaizen, and Lean Manufacturing.

Working Conditions

  • Manual dexterity required to use desktop computer and peripherals

  • Adaptability to work in a fast-paced, dynamic environment and adjust to changing priorities and deadlines is required.

  • Off-shift schedule (2 pm to 10:30 pm) with flexibility to work variable hours, including nights, and occasionally weekends and holidays

Primary Responsibilities

  • Leads a team of production workers, providing guidance, training, and support to ensure they perform their tasks efficiently and effectively.

  • Monitors production and adjusts work assignments, supply of material, and machine operation when necessary to support/maintain Production KPIs (e.g. On Time Delivery).

  • Confers with the Production Supervisor to receive instructions and exchange production information.

  • Identifies opportunities for process improvement, productivity enhancement, waste and cost reduction, while maintaining quality standards.

  • Ensures that all products meet the required quality specifications by monitoring quality control processes throughout the production cycle.

  • Enforces and promotes a safe working environment by adhering to safety protocols, conducting regular safety inspections, participating in the Joint Health & Safety Committee and providing appropriate training to team members.

  • Maintains accurate production records and generates reports on production performance, highlighting key metrics and areas for improvement.

  • Identifies skill gaps within the production team and communicate this information to the Production Supervisor in order to coordinate training programs to enhance employees’ knowledge and skills, fostering a culture of continuous improvement.

  • Locks and unlocks the facility when required as per the off-shift schedule.

  • Supports the Supply Chain team to ensure proper Inventory Management.

  • May perform duties of absent workers to maintain production, such as running Finishing Equipment and or learning hands-on new equipment.
