LINC president Kelly Youngdale will once again don his bicycle apparel and pedal for cancer research at this year's "Ride The Rideau", a 100 km cycling adventure that boasts thousands of passionate and active enthusiasts.

Label Innovation is proud once again to further cancer research at the Ottawa Hospital's unique, world-class institute.

The one hundred kilometer race cycle from Ottawa to Merrickville will take place on Saturday, September 8, 2012.

Label Innovation Inc. won the Ottawa Chapter of the FEYA Award and now has been chosen as one of three finalists for the National FEYA Award. Guests, family, customers and friends are invited to join CAFÉ at the Château Laurier here in Ottawa.

Label Innovation Inc. President Kelly Youngdale was elected to the Board of Directors at the Canadian Association of Family Enterprise (CAFE). Mr. Youngdale has been an active member of CAFE for a number of years.  Having recently gone through a succession process at Label Innovation, it is clearly evident that an organization such as this has much to offer family businesses.  Mr. Youngdale brings a wealth of knowledge and experience to the board. His leadership development will be of great value to the association.

"I'm excited to join the Board at CAFE and playing a part in seeing family businesses across Canada come together," says Kelly. "This is such a unique organization - it's a privilege to be a part of it."

CAFE has been helping families in business succeed for almost 30 years.

CAFE Ottawa FEYA Award

Presented at the Ottawa Business Summit, were the finalist and winner of the CAFE Ottawa FEYA Award. The Winner of this year's FEYA Award for Ottawa is Label Innovation Inc.

In 1989, Clive and Nancy Ozard purchased The Label Centre Ltd., a small local printer that focused on manufacturing labels for grocery, stationary and retail.   In 1993, Clive and Nancy decided to offer Kelly Youngdale, their new son in law, a position in sales.  Kelly had recently finished his degree and completed a short stint in the car business before joining the family business.   

After a name change to Label Innovation Inc. in 2001, 2 moves, a management succession period, followed by an ownership succession, this is no longer your standard label printer.

Fast forward 19 years.  Kelly has taken over Label Innovation Inc. and is driving the company into unique areas of value added solutions. Products range from functional components for blood analysis equipment, disposable medical devices, ECG electrodes, foam cushions, double sided tapes and adhesive braziers.  The company's manufacturing site is right here in Ottawa with sales offices in Ottawa and Toronto.  Current services extend across Canada and the United States.

The company is well into the ownership succession process.  With help from CAFE advisors, accountants and lawyers, LINC has been able to successfully transfer to the second generation and preserve the family values.  Through the use of a structured process, set milestones and performance indicators, LINC is a great example of what can be accomplished when you have all the appropriate people involved.  Extensive documentation has helped clarify expectations and develop a comfort zone for both generations.

To date, LINC's performance has exceeded all projections.  Clive and Nancy are now spending more time in Florida, while Kelly and his team continues to drive the company to the next level.
